133-Pound Rescue Alabai Decides Bedtime Is 6 P.M. Sharp, Regardless of What Dad Thinks

She clocked out at sunset and is not taking questions.

Outside, twilight was barely beginning to settle across the neighborhood. Inside, all 133 pounds of Large Marge were already horizontal across the master mattress, firmly wedged beneath the comforter.

Dad stopped dead in the doorway, staring down at the massive white canine with complete disbelief. It was barely evening, the sky outside had hardly dimmed, and yet Marge had already completed dinner, claimed the prime center real estate of the bed, and initiated full shut-eye mode.

Dad questions the clock, but Mom provides immediate legal defense

As seen on her popular family account, @largemargedog, the rescue pup has perfected what her humans affectionately refer to as an "old lady schedule." That means early supper, early snuggles, and absolutely zero interest in evening entertainment.

Standing by the edge of the mattress, Dad checked the time and couldn't help calling her out.

“Is it after six o’clock even?” he asked, shaking his head. Once the kitchen clock confirmed the hour, he declared, “Six o'clock in bed.”

Dad argued that retirement at 6:00 p.m. required some sort of strenuous prerequisite. “She has not done anything,” he pointed out.

Mom, filming the standoff from behind the camera, immediately stepped in as Marge's chief defense attorney.

“She worked so hard today,” Mom insisted, refusing to let Marge's bedtime credentials be diminished.

A 133-pound livestock guardian off the clock

When Dad drew attention to Marge's sheepish, guilty side-eye from beneath the sheets, Mom was quick with another rebuttal.

“Cause she is getting scolded right now,” Mom explained, laughing as the giant pup pulled her ears back and offered the sweetest squint of remorse.

Marge is an Alabai, also known as a Central Asian Shepherd, an ancient livestock guardian breed developed to protect herds and deter predators across rugged mountain terrains. But on a regular weekday evening, any notions of perimeter patrol or rugged vigilance were formally canceled. As Central Asian Shepherd Dogs go, Marge knows that once you're rescued into suburban luxury, your primary flock to protect is the duvet.

Seeing that no amount of rational debate would convince 133 pounds of sleepy canine to budge, Dad finally broke into a laugh, conceded defeat, and wished the big girl a good night.

Viewers rally behind the world’s sleepiest early bird

As first reported by DogTime, the clip became an instant hit with fellow pet parents who recognize that trying to negotiate with a stubborn dog's internal clock is an impossible battle.

Dog lovers instantly flooded the post to champion Marge's respectable routine, agreeing that senior citizen hours are an enviable lifestyle in the realm of viral humor:

"You 3 are adorable."
"She is smiiiiling, sweetheart."
"You forgot to add BEAUTIFUL Old Lady."
"Loves the slumber."
