Dad Reveals How to Tell His 'Double Bear' Lookalike Dog Sisters Apart

Marge and Juno look like mirror twins, but their dad knows every little detail that sets them apart.

Side by side on the floor, the two enormous white dogs look like living mirror images — identical floppy ears, matching pale coats, and the same calm, soulful gaze.

Then their dad leans down to start cataloging the subtle tells that only someone who lives alongside them would ever catch. To anyone passing by on the sidewalk, Marge and her biological sister Juno could easily pass for carbon copies. But as their human dad humorously documented on their Instagram account, @largemargedog, the two "double bears" are distinct individuals down to their snouts, spots, and cuddle strategies.

Taking turns observing the sisters, Dad walks viewers through their facial geometry. Juno’s eyes are slightly smaller and sit a little further apart, accompanied by a longer, narrower muzzle. Marge, meanwhile, has wider-set, bigger eyes framed by a broader, blockier head. Their coats offer another visual cheat code: Marge sports a warmer tan hue distributed across her frame, while Juno carries more pronounced dappled spots across her pelt. Marge also edges out her sister in sheer scale, packing on just a bit more height, length, and muscular heft.

Beyond physical nuances, it is their distinct attitudes that make confusing the two impossible for their family. Juno is the unabashed snuggler who ignores personal space entirely, happily flopping her giant frame directly on top of people and demanding immediate ear scratches. Marge enjoys affection just as much, but approaches closeness like a true queen — snuggles happen strictly on her own terms and timetable.

Then there is the matter of grooming. Central Asian Shepherd Dogs carry massive weather-resistant double coats, and while both dogs contribute to household fluff, Juno operates in a league of her own. Dad demonstrated the difference by pointing a camera at the living room sofa, where an avalanche of white fur prompted an exasperated: "Holy smokes!"

The sisters' bond makes their lookalike quirks even sweeter. The pair were originally found abandoned together on the streets of Pasadena before entering foster care. When Marge's family adopted her, Juno found a loving home right nearby with friendly neighbors. Because of that proximity, the two rescue sisters have been able to grow up side by side, sharing regular backyard reunions and playdates.

Seeing lookalike Central Asian Shepherd Dog siblings thrive together is a wonderful reminder of how deep rescue bonds run. While internet strangers might still need a cheat sheet to tell the sisters apart, their heartwarming daily antics prove that identical looks never mean identical souls.
