Someone forgot to press play on the dog.
The front door opened, and Oreo stepped into the hallway with her eyes locked straight ahead.
Most dogs greet a returning human with full-body wiggles, frantic paw-taps, or an immediate dash for whatever shoe happens to be nearby. Oreo, an expressive Border Collie shared on Instagram by @oreowatchesyou, prefers a theatrical slow burn.
As her owner entered the house, Oreo crept forward at half-speed before coming to a dead stop. With her front left paw folded neatly in midair and her tail giving away tiny pulses of joy, she held the pose like a classical sculpture.
According to the video, Oreo stayed suspended in her delicate pointer stance for over twenty seconds without blinking or putting her foot down. Her owner was just as puzzled by the aristocratic display, captioning the clip: “Came home to this. Still not sure what I was supposed to do.”
The regal greeting quickly caught fire on social media, as highlighted by DogTime. In the comments, viewers couldn't get enough of Oreo's disciplined routine, comparing the dramatic stillness to a formal curtsy:
Whether she was waiting for royal clearance or simply building suspense, the gentle humor proved that some greetings are meant to be savored one frozen paw at a time.
