Their handlers had exactly one reservation about the venue. The dogs found it first.
The guests were seated, a camera tripod stood ready, and two golden retrievers in matching tuxedo bibs waited at the top of the aisle. Their job was simple: walk down to Mum and Dad. The second their handler let go, both dogs took off past the rows of smiling guests at a full gallop, and the end of the aisle turned out to be more of a suggestion.
"Mum and Dad said 'walk down the aisle,'" as the pups put it, "but we had other plans." Those plans ran straight across the golf course green toward the creek beyond it. The team at @happyhoundspetservices_, who were looking after the pair for the day, had their doubts about the scenery. "Not our first choice to let two goldens off leash next to a creek, but if a client requests, a client gets!" they wrote.
The trip back was a much slower affair. Both dogs strolled up the grass on their leashes, coats dark and dripping, looking enormously pleased with themselves. "At least we came away with two very happy pet parents and two very happy pups (albeit a bit stinky!)," the team shared.
One fellow golden owner saw the loophole right away. "Well they did go down the aisle, good boys get swims😂," they wrote. Another just called it the "Best wedding ever! ❤️" The ceremony got its walk down the aisle, the dogs got their swim, and the day ended with two soggy, grinning goldens and two very happy pet parents, which sounds like a perfect wedding to us.
