Leona's family is "convinced she can’t chill for two seconds by herself," and one very ordinary chore proved them right.
Halfway through hauling a mattress out of their van, Destiny and Brandon, the couple behind @adventuremooreoften, had it hoisted high over their heads when a small black face popped up over the top. Leona, their 12-year-old dog, had climbed aboard. She stood on the peak of the mattress against a bright blue sky, ears up, peering down at the two people doing all the heavy lifting.
Nobody below had planned on a passenger. Destiny stepped up onto the back of the van and reached for her while Brandon kept the whole thing steady overhead. Leona used the moment to stroll along the top with her tail held high, as if the view had been the point all along. It was, as the couple put it, "the type of stuff your dog does when you’re already overstimulated."
Twelve is the age when plenty of people expect a dog to start taking it easy. Leona's family wrote that they're "convinced she can’t chill for two seconds by herself," then asked the question every senior-dog owner eventually wonders about: "aren’t they supposed to calm down by 12 years old??" She travels everywhere with them in the van they call home, so she has had plenty of practice turning up wherever the action is.
Viewers mostly wanted to know how she pulled it off. "Was she on the mattress when you lifted it because where did she come from," one asked. Another was sure Leona knew the mattress would never fit on top of all that stuff in the van and was simply saving them from a pointless task. "Just say “thank you”," that viewer advised.
By the end of the clip, the mattress was lying flat on the gravel and Leona was scooped up in Destiny's arms, held close while Destiny laughed. Twelve years old, and still the first one to sign up for any job, especially the ones with a view.
