The duck toller’s owner wrote, “The stick saga continues … 😂😭” — sharing a camping moment that began with a hatchet and a watchful dog.
A duck toller watches his owner work through a piece of wood at the campsite. When the owner holds up a smaller piece of kindling, the dog lifts his head and follows it with his eyes. The wood has his attention well before it reaches the fire.
The Nova Scotia duck tolling retriever, whose camping moment was shared by @tiller_thetoller, stands a few steps from the chopping block. His owner sets the hatchet down, then raises the split wood while the dog keeps watching. There is no throw.
Next, the dog leans toward a little stack of kindling on a cooler beside the fire. The owner supplied a one-word interpretation on screen: “Fetch?” With those neat, pale pieces sitting right at nose height, the pause gives viewers plenty of time to appreciate the setup.
But this is a campfire, and some of the wood is already burning. The owner framed the whole scene with the on-screen line, “POV: your dog doesn’t understand campfires”. After that sniff of the kindling, watch for the look he gives the camera.
The look comes with an on-screen line of its own: “Um mom are you seeing this?”
Viewers supplied their own versions. “Why is you not throwing da sticks!” @tailsofhopsandhaley wrote. @odinthepnwgolden kept the reaction short: “Excuse me?! 😂”
The dog turns his head away again, and the clip finishes on the kindling burning in the pit. The sticks never get their game of fetch.
