The stick was wider than the door.
Goose is already mid-crosswalk with a branch that barely fits the lane — a black-and-tan Dachshund from @bigstickgoose whose New York walks seem built around finding a stick that looks impossible to carry, then carrying it anyway. His dad wrote, "HOLY STICK," and the sidewalk did not argue.
Pedestrians clock the cargo first. "HOLY STICK," someone reacts, then "oh my god." Goose keeps the branch level like it is just another Tuesday errand.
The hard part is not the street. It is the glass doors home. The stick spans wider than the open doorway, so Goose angles, pauses, and tries again while someone holds the way clear. The pep talk arrives right on cue: "you got it bud there we go."

For a little dog in a big city, that is the whole job description: find the ridiculous stick, make the block smile, and somehow get the prize through the door.
