427 days. But not a day longer.
Every day for well over a year, a white pit bull named Dottie made the same promise with her whole body: when her favorite person stepped into the kennel row, she would be right there with a hello.
@gillianpspca walked those kennels for 427 days, and Dottie never missed her. It was a quiet ritual — one sweet girl, one familiar face, one greeting that somehow made the long wait feel a little less lonely.
Then came the morning that stopped her mid-step. Gillian shared that for over a year, Dottie had greeted her daily. "But, today, her kennel was empty," she wrote. "She was finally adopted."
Friends who had been rooting for her felt the same rush of relief. One wrote, "Happy gotcha Dottie! Lots of love and happiness sweet girl. ❤️" Another shared, "So happy for Dottie and way overdue for such a cutie."
Gillian closed with the line that carries the whole year: "Never, ever, give up." And for Dottie, the story does not end on an empty kennel. It ends in the sun — a bright yard, that open smiling face, and a soft sendoff that fits her perfectly: "Happy life, sweet girl."
