She definitely didn't need sheet music for that chorus.
Chris Petersen turned on the stereo in his truck, cueing up Chris LeDoux's track "Look At You Girl." In the passenger seat, his cattle dog Syd immediately perked up.
Petersen, a Utah-based rancher and country music singer who documents life on the range as @diehardcowboy_, was cruising down the road when the 1992 tune kicked into gear. Syd did not need an engraved invitation. As soon as the first verse gave way to the melody, she lifted her snout toward the ceiling and threw herself into full-blown canine harmony.
Anyone who travels with a canine copilot knows that road trips usually involve window sniffing, backseat restlessness, or snoring. For Syd, the cab of a pickup is a private recording booth. As Petersen shared in his clip on
, the Australian Cattle Dog listens attentively until the chorus swells, matching her owner howl for note with unshakable conviction.
The impromptu cab concert quickly took off across social media, as reported by iHeartDogs. But the duo didn't leave the routine on the backroads. In July 2020, Petersen and Syd brought their signature LeDoux cover to a virtual audition segment of America’s Got Talent, treating the judges to the exact same enthusiastic viral chorus. While heelers are widely celebrated for working cattle and running long hours on the ranch, Syd proved that some humor comes best served through an honest four-legged howl.
