"I fully expected her to shred every single one into a million pieces," Holly's owner wrote about the pile of toys bought for her as a puppy.
Every time Holly's owner posts a video of her hugging Moo Cow, her beloved stuffed cow, the same question rolls in. Is the blue Staffy that gentle with all of her toys, or only that one? Her owner settled it the fair way, by holding out a brand-new snowman plush and filming what she did with it.
The carnage was expected years ago. "I may have gone a bit overboard with the toys," her owner admitted of Holly's puppy days, but the shredding "just never happened." The proof is piled up behind the sofa, a heap of plushies that look loved rather than wrecked. "She legitimately has toys still from the first day I brought her home," her owner shared.
What the snowman got was "the gentle grab." Holly took it softly from her person's fingers, carried it off for "further inspection," then lay down and simply held it between her front paws. Her idea of rough play is a few careful nibbles, and even those look a little apologetic. "It's like she doesn't want to hurt them," her owner wrote.
A second new toy, a little grey plush with a smiley face, became her chin rest. The real seal of approval, though, is when Holly lies down with her mouth resting on top of a toy and gazes up from behind it. "I'll know she truly likes a new toy when I find her like this with it," her owner wrote on @hollythebluestaffy.
Plenty of viewers live with the opposite problem, like the Staffy parent whose own pups "would make quick work of toys" and who begged to know the secret. Another viewer admitted, "I've never seen a dog so gentle with their toys."
Moo Cow, for the record, still gets the VIP treatment. "Is she extra gentle with Moo Cow? Absolutely," her owner wrote. "She won't even be her version of 'rough' with it." And if being gentle with her toys is what makes Holly happy, her owner has already decided where they stand: "Then I'm happy too."
