Dachshund Pack Delivers Completely Different Reactions When Mom Flies a Toilet Paper Ghost

From total bewilderment to demanding snacks, Grace Park’s famous pack delivered every possible reaction to a viral illusion.

When creator Grace Park decided to test the viral toilet paper ghost trend with her multi-dog household, she probably expected a few curious glances and tilted ears. Instead, her famous pack of dachshunds—alongside scruffy sibling Einstein—delivered a full spectrum of completely unscripted reactions. While Einstein tracked the floating ash cylinder into the air with wide-eyed disbelief, a wiener dog named Punkin remained completely unfazed by the illusion. With another pup barking demands for a snack and others staring in pure confusion, the lighthearted experiment captured hearts across the internet, proving that even dogs sharing the same living room see the world in their own delightfully unique ways.

The premise behind the ghost trend looks simple enough on camera: draw spooky little ghost faces onto a hollow cylinder of lightweight paper, set it standing upright on a plate, and touch a flame to the top edge. As the thin paper burns toward the base, the rising column of warm air creates a convection draft that suddenly lifts the delicate, glowing ash column into the air like a tiny floating spirit.

For humans who understand physics, it is a neat seasonal party trick. For dogs who have never witnessed household paper ascend to the ceiling, it is either an inexplicable supernatural event or a total waste of valuable treat time.

A room full of very different canine critics

As Grace demonstrated the illusion, each dog’s distinct personality quickly took center stage. Einstein, who is not a dachshund but shares the home with the pack, was perhaps the most visibly astonished of the bunch. The moment the fiery little ghost broke free from the paper plate and floated toward the ceiling, Einstein’s chin lifted in slow motion, his eyes locked onto the ascending phantom with an expression that seemed to plead, “Mom, what kind of sorcery is happening in our kitchen?”

Right beside him, Punkin the wiener dog took the complete opposite approach. Rather than panicking or marveling at the defying laws of gravity, Punkin barely blinked, offering the kind of unimpressed, half-lidded glance reserved for humans who get overexcited about ordinary household objects.

Further down the line, another pup stared with wide-eyed, hyper-focused vigilance, carefully calculating whether the floating apparition posed any immediate threat. A fourth dog looked thoroughly bored, treating the floating cylinder like background noise. Meanwhile, another pack member had zero interest in ghost science, opting instead to bark persistently at the plate in hopes that the presentation might somehow conclude with edible treats.

Why pack dynamics reveal so much about personality

To followers of Grace’s popular social handle @yunabugs, the diverse reactions were quintessential “Weens” behavior. Multi-dog families often witness these sharp personality contrasts during everyday life, but introducing a novel visual stimulus brings them into sharp relief.

Canine behaviorists often note that a dog's response to unfamiliar movement depends heavily on their individual temperament, prey drive, and confidence levels. As a breed developed originally for underground hunting, the Dachshund naturally combines sharp environmental alertness with an independent streak. Some dogs in the pack evaluate vertical movement with hunting intensity, while others rely on their handlers' relaxed body language to decide whether something merits attention.

When mom is giggling behind a camera, confident dogs like Punkin quickly deduce that there is nothing to fear—and therefore nothing worth moving off the rug for.

The charm of the clip lies in how relatable those divergent reactions feel to anyone raising more than one pet. Whether browsing through heartwarming humor stories or watching everyday pack life unfold, moments like this highlight that every dog is their own individual philosopher. Some dogs contemplate the mysteries of the universe, some simply ignore them, and others just want to know when dinner is being served.
