Great Dane Reconsiders His Walk After Spotting a Light Drizzle Outside

Doc leaned his head through the open patio door and stopped.

The black Great Dane, whose family chronicles his everyday life as @docthegreatestdane on Instagram, looked ready for an outing until he caught the faint sound of falling water. An on-screen caption captured the internal debate: “When you want to be brave but there’s a light drizzle outside.”

Standing out on the deck, his mom stepped forward and tried coaxing him along, calling out multiple times for him to follow. But Doc had already done the math. Rather than stepping onto the wet boards, he slowly pulled his massive head back into the safety of the house.

The side-eye that says you are on your own

When his mom gave one more encouraging “let’s go,” Doc delivered a legendary look of pure disbelief. He swung his head toward her with an unblinking, deadpan stare that his owner translated as: “Like who is she even talking to?” He remained firmly planted on the dry floorboards, treating a few drops of water like an impassable obstacle.

The standoff quickly became a hit for fans of relatable dog humor, especially fellow big-dog owners who know the struggle of trying to move a hundred-pound couch potato into the elements:

As first reported by DogTime, viewers flooded the post with stories of their own weather-averse giants, with one owner noting their dogs can happily hold their bladders for three business days if they hear rain. For Doc, waiting out the damp was simply the only logical choice.
