A black Lab who inspects ears for a living finally finds out what it feels like.
Dexter, a black Lab, can't let his person sit down on the couch without giving her ears "a good whiff." So with him already leaned into her side, she flips the routine and sniffs his ears instead. His face goes from cuddle mode to pure "MAHM! What do?"
Anyone who has been on the receiving end of a dog's ear inspection knows it can feel a little personal. Dexter, it turns out, finds the reverse heavenly. A few sniffs in, he's burrowed against her shoulder asking for more, and the only regret on that couch belongs to her: every time she's told him to "GERROFF" when he did exactly this.
None of it is out of character. His person once described him as a "go everywhere gym dog with heaps of personality, snack obsessed, cuddle bug," and the two of them spend a lot of time outdoors on the edge of the Peak District. This adventure just happens to take place on one couch cushion.
It ends with a round of what she called "love bleps". "I get it now!" she wrote on @shnootle.hound, adding that the moral of this whiffy tale "is always let them whiff your ears." At least one viewer was ready to run the test at home: "I'm 100% trying this on my doggo when I get home!"
