Locked? Optional. Scooby Doo energy? Mandatory.
Mission brief: fridge. Button. Crunch. Repeat. Humans optional.
Thor, a honey-gold Retriever whose profile proudly admits he is “ice block obsessed,” treats the refrigerator like a vending machine with a very good return policy. @thor_thegolden1 catches him upright at the dispenser, paw working the button, face pure focus. Mom hears the machine from the bedroom, walks in, and finds… this.
No guilty shuffle. No dramatic exit. Ice drops. He drops with it. Then he goes back for round two like this is just Tuesday.
The caption writes itself.
Forgot to lock the ice machine, and heard this from our bedroom, & this is what I found.. Scooby Doo in his natural habitat.. just Thor being Thor
According to Rover’s interview with veterinary technician Beckie Mossor, dogs often chase ice for the crunch, the cold feel, or because owners turned it into a rewarded treat—not because they’re mid-heatstroke. The old “ice causes bloat” scare also lacks solid evidence.
So Thor’s fridge heist is less emergency cooling and more a highly specific snack program with excellent muscle memory.
He’ll lock eyes with you. He’ll finish the cube. He’ll try the button again.
