He truly believes 10,000 strangers ran across town for him.


Thousands of exhausted marathon runners were pounding the pavement in Cleveland when a fluffy golden head poked out from the sidewalk curb, wearing a handmade cardboard sign that read "Run if you think I am cute."

Pounding sneakers slowed to an immediate shuffle. Instead of powering through their pacing splits, runners veered off course toward the curb, reaching down for frantic ear scratches while Ike looked up with wide, sparkly eyes—radiating the calm, unshakeable confidence of a dog who genuinely believed the city organized an entire 26.2-mile road race just to give him a private meet-and-greet.

The Cleveland native, whose wholesome everyday life is documented by his family under @ike_thegolden on Instagram, took his sideline duties with the gravity of an Olympic official. In addition to his cuteness referendum, his owner had him sporting rotating signs including "You're my favorite runner" and a family tribute reading "Go Aunt Clare," as reported by DogTime.

"Your favorite marathon cheerleader reporting on duty," his owner shared, capturing the moment Ike decided standing upright was simply too much work for a volunteer. True to form, the pup promptly collapsed flat onto his back on the pavement, four paws pointing skyward, inviting anyone currently battling severe calf cramps to pause for belly rubs. Several runners completely abandoned their personal records to drop onto one knee for a sweaty mid-race selfie.

"POV: your dog is convinced everyone is here for him," his paw parent added, perfectly summing up the canine logic at play.
