German Shepherd Regrets Every Decision After Parents Bring Home a Nosy Puppy Brother

The exact face of an only child whose reign just abruptly ended.

Hazel was curled up peacefully on her plush dog bed, savoring the quiet life, when four tiny paws clattered across the floor.

Dream, an Australian Shepherd puppy with boundless enthusiasm and zero comprehension of personal space, did not just trot over to say hello. He marched straight onto the cushion, squeezed his fluffy body right into Hazel's ribs, and peered up into her face like they had scheduled a mandatory snuggle meeting.

Hazel, a two-year-old long-haired German Shepherd living in Seattle, Washington, had reigned as the undisputed princess of the household. Naturally, being granted a companion sounded lovely on paper — until the companion turned out to be an energetic fur missile with a nose for boundary testing.

The side-eye heard around the living room

As shared by their family on @hazel_and_dream and reported by DogTime, Hazel froze for several agonizing seconds while Dream settled in. Her eyes shifted sideways with a look of pure disbelief, silently demanding to know where the household complaint department was located.

When Dream pushed even closer to inspect her ears, Hazel finally gave a firm, indignant grumble to establish ground rules. Dream, possessing the joyful audacity common to herding pups, merely took the warning as a polite suggestion to burrow deeper into the blanket.

Accepting the second dog effect

The comical face-off struck a chord with hundreds of thousands of viewers who recognized the classic humor of welcoming a second pet. As the pups' parent summed up in the caption, “Second dog effect… what’s done is done, no going back now.”

Pairing a sensible adult dog with a baby herder is always an exercise in comedic patience. While Hazel may still wonder why her solitary kingdom was converted into a shared dormitory, the daily wrestling matches and secret snuggles prove that having an annoying little shadow is worth every lost inch of the bed.
